Ground-mount solar installations need a properly prepared site before panels ever go up — clearing to remove shading obstructions, grading for a stable, level array footprint, and access for both installation equipment and ongoing maintenance.

What's included

• Clearing vegetation from the array footprint and any shading trees or brush affecting sun exposure
• Grading the array area to the tolerances the mounting system requires
• Trenching for underground electrical runs from the array to the connection point

What matters most on a solar site

Sun exposure and grade consistency drive most of the site prep decisions — clearing has to eliminate shading without over-clearing land you don't need to disturb, and the array footprint needs a stable, well-compacted, evenly graded base so the mounting system installs correctly and stays level over time.

What affects cost

Array footprint size, how much clearing is needed for sun exposure, distance and complexity of the electrical trenching run, and site access for installation equipment.
